Cycladic Stripe in Cobalt

Originally needlepointed in vibrant red, this fabric is derived from a fragment of a 1700’s bed hanging that was a piece of a priceless wedding trousseau on the island of Melos.

The Cycladic Islands are known in history for being home to some of the world’s greatest seafarers. The trade and travels of these sailors often inspired local artisans, as did periods of foreign rule, creating beautiful design traditions unique to the region.
